Electronic Money Order (eMO)

eMo is the Money Order issued by the computerised Post Office for the payment of a sum of money to the “Payee” by the “Remitter” electronically. 18 digit PNR number is generated while booking an eMo. Data is transmitted electronically to the destination Post Office. Money is paid at the doorstep of the Payee by cash.

Salient features :

• Payment status can be tracked in the web site www.indiapost.gov.in or www.chennaipost.gov.in
• Transmission of eMO is very fast and payment is made quickly.
• The amount for which a single eMO may be issued should not exceed Rs.5000/-.
• Commission – Re.1/- for Rs.20/- and parts thereof.

Remitter needs to fill in eMo Remittance Form. This is supplied free of cost to the public. Remitter needs to present the filled in eMO form, remittance amount along with commission in any of the computerised Post office. A receipt with 18 digit PNR number will be given to be remitter. Data will flow to the payment office electronically and payment will be made at the doorstep of payee.
