About the service

A unique logistics service from the Indian Post Office with the largest logistics network in the country. Logistics Post provides for booking of higher loads, even consignment loads. The services offered include pick up, booking, insurance, consignment and delivery. The whole value chain of logistics is covered.

Logistics Post is a premium service that would be available between Chennai - Hosur - Chennai with intermediary stations Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Vellore and Ambur.

Contents Permitted
  • Consignments may be sent through Logistics Post, with proper package.
  • The consignment should be prepacked and addressed to the individual consignee.
  • The minimum chargeable weight is 50 Kg. and multiples of 10 Kg. There is no upper limit.
  • A docket charge of Rs.100 per Consignment should be levied extra.
  • The weight will be taken on the basis of Valumetric/ actual, whichever is higher.
  • More than one article/piece addressed to one consignee will be treated as one consignment & charges will be worked out accordingly.
  • Tariff will be based on weight as well as volume of goods and may vary from consignment to consignment.
  • Door pickup and door delivery facility available.
  • Loading and Unloading charges extra
  • One Cubic feet 10 Kgs.
  • * Regular services for Tiruvendrum, Vijayawada, Mysore, Chennai-Mumbai, Chennai-Hydrabad, Chennai-Ahmedabad, Chennai-Delhi, Chennai-Kolkata Routes are also available.
  • Special rate for Full Track Load.
  • Insurance and other charges wherever applicable.
  • One Cubic feet 10 Kgs.
  • Octroi/toll and service tax, storage/demurrage charges will be extra.
  • Pick up charges will be extra.

Insurance Compulsory
  • Premium rate is 0.12% of the declared value of non-fragile goods and 0.20% for fragile goods or actual value whichever is less.
  • Minimum premium per consignment would be Rs.50/- + 10.2% Service Tax say Rs. 55/-
  • The minimum chargeable weight is 50 Kg. There is no upper limit.
  • More than one article/piece addressed to one consignee will be treated as one consignment & charges will be worked out accordingly.
  • Tariff will be based on weight as well as volume of goods and may vary from consignment to consignment.
  • In the event of loss, the consignor or the consignee will contact the nearest office of the Oriental Insurance for survey. The fee, if any for the survey is to be borne by the consignor or the consignee as the case may be.
  • The claim will be admissible to the extent of declared value or the actual value whichever is less.

Value Added Service

Logistics Post provides the following Value Added Services on nominal extra cost.

  • Pick up.
  • Loading.
  • Door delivery including unloading.
  • Storage of goods before despatch or delivery.
