Vellore

Geographical Features:

After undergoing a number of bifurcations from the formation of a Postal Division in Vellore in 1894, the present Vellore division was formed on 2.3.1981 comprising Vellore, part of Gudiyatham and Polur Taluk. The Division is surrounded on the north by Chittoor division, on the south by Tiruvannamalai division, on the west by Tirupattur division and on the east by Arakkonam division. It serves an area of 940.75 Sq. Kms with a population of around 0.6 million.

Place of Interest:

One of the most perfect specimens of Military Architecture in South India, the Vellore Fort, the Jalakandeeswarar Temple inside the Fort exhibiting the Vijayanagar architecture, St. John's Church and Mosque inside the Fort are some of the important places to be seen in Vellore.
